Whoosh launched the campaign on June 10th in Mexico City and will expand it to Monterrey within the following two weeks, expanding reach to key urban mobility hubs in Mexico by July 5th. Become together Segway and Whoosh sponsor thousands of rides. Users can redeem a free ride via the operators’ apps by entering the promotional code: RIDEWITHSEGWAY. Each free ride includes scooter unlock and ride time of up to 20 minutes, subject to daily availability and in limited quantities during the promotional period.

The campaign reflects the growing importance of shared micromobility in addressing urban mobility needs during major international events. Shared mobility networks are increasingly being integrated into event-oriented transport planning, particularly to improve last-mile connectivity in times of increased transport demand.

Given the high demand for parking and high parking fees during the World Cup, “Free Ride” offers fans seamless mobility and completely eliminates the need for parking fees. This makes it clear that micromobility is no longer just an alternative means of transport – it is an essential pillar of modern event transport.

“At Whoosh, we believe that shared micromobility plays a key role in building more connected, efficient and sustainable cities. Our partnership with Segway Commercial strengthens this vision by combining reliable technology with operational expertise to provide users in CDMX and Monterrey with a practical alternative for short-distance travel, especially during major events such as the World Cup Games. Through initiatives such as free rides, we aim to improve the urban mobility experience and complement the modes of transport already available in the city,” said Sebastien Declety, Country Manager of Whoosh Mexico.

“The World Cup provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate how shared micromobility can help cities respond to dynamic transportation needs during major events,” said Zack Yan, deputy general manager of Segway-Ninebot’s Commercial Mobility division. “Our collaboration with Whoosh reflects our shared commitment to providing accessible, efficient and sustainable transport solutions that improve the daily mobility experience in the city.”

As the World Cup reaches its most exciting stages, Segway and Whoosh remain committed to keeping host cities moving – so fans and residents can stay comfortable, whether at the final or on their daily commute. But long after the endgame is over, this collaboration leaves behind a sustainable approach to providing accessible and sustainable mobility solutions when cities need them most.
