ZL Tech’s New Application Analyzes Unstructured Data, Aims To Unlock Human Side Of The Corporate Kingdom

ZL Tech is tapping into the human side of the corporate kingdom with ZL People Analytics.

The Milpitas, Calif. company, which made CRN’s 2022 Managed Service Provider 500 list, says its new application allows companies and organizations to pull insights from unstructured data from things like email, chats and Microsoft teams.

Here’s a look at some of CRNtv’s interview with ZL Tech’s CEO and Co-Founder Kon Leong, as he explains how this capability can improve the workforce.

Why is it so important to have that human side of technology?

I think the need has always been there. But no one really had a way to unlock the answers…We‘ve kind of matured on the structured side with all of the data Mart’s data warehousing data lakes. But on the unstructured side, it‘s still a pioneering field, which is just waiting for people to tap into the insights buried in the about human activity, human knowledge. And that’s what, that‘s what we’re bringing to bear to unlock the value there.

How does ZL People Analytics work and how does it compare to other products like it?https://323650ce34ff327ca1b54d260dea2d96.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

The traditional method has been to manage this information by making a copy, but if you make a copy of this mountain of data, A.) it costs way too much, B.) it‘s an administrative challenge to manage all the data. And C.) it also could, in result in more exposure risk for litigation and regulatory requirements.

We avoid all of that by having it all managed in place; don‘t make a copy of the original. That’s a very, very fundamental difference in approach.

Secondly, we scale it up so that you can actually examine tomes of information, whereas today, the typical method has been to examine data in a sandbox. You throw some sand in the sandbox, and then you examine it to get the insights you want. But if you‘re able to scale to examine the entire beach, if you will, that’s a completely different value proposition. You can get answers to things that you never thought possible.

The last difference [is] there’s a merger of doing analytics and governance at the same time. And that’s something that the market’s waking up to.

Can you elaborate on how the application also keeps private information protected?

Every business has records, and they need to be managed in lifecycle and of late privacy obligations. A lot of people are talking about privacy, but then just nibbling at the front end, no one‘s really addressed the backend as to how you actually enforce these regulations and put them in practice. So, these are the main areas of governance, and they need to be addressed simultaneously.

Additionally, Leong says the app will help address current workplace issues, such as hybrid work satisfaction, and the Great Resignation.

Can you explain how?

It makes all the difference in the world if you have an early heads-up as to which employees are suffering stress to the point that they want to explore new environments, new opportunities. And then to be basically have some communication with the employee and then perhaps be able to de-stressed the environment for that. So, what we do is analyze the environment, digital data and have an early heads-up as to which employees are likely under undue stress, and then apply remedies.

Do you think this will also improve that environment of working from home?

Yes, indeed, it actually knows what feedback from how people react to this requirement, and also suggestions as to how it might improve.RELATED TOPICS:
