Wacom introduces the Wacom Art Pen 2: a next-generation pen with 360° rotation for digital artists

Wacom’s latest rotation-sensitive pen offers ambitious digital artists limitless freedom of expression and brings the feel of traditional tools into the digital world.

/PRNewswire/ — Today Wacom introduced the Wacom Art Pen 2: a rotation-sensitive pen designed specifically for digital artists and creative professionals who want precise and expressive control in their digital workflow.

Expressive controls thanks to rotation

Wacom Unveils Wacom Art Pen 2: Next-Generation Pen with 360° Barrel Rotation for Digital Artists

Building on the legacy of the original Wacom Art Pen (KP701E), the new Wacom Art Pen 2 also offers 360° rotation, introducing this feature to Wacom’s latest family of pen technology. With compatible brushes, pens and cursors, it responds not only to pressure and tilt, but also (when used with supported software) to the angle of rotation of the pen. With the Wacom Art Pen 2, artists can easily vary the thickness and character of drawn lines by rotating the pen in their hand – similar to how artists have always changed the angle of their pencil, flat brush, felt-tip pen or calligraphy pen to achieve different effects. These intuitive controls enable a more natural and dynamic drawing experience that matches the versatility of familiar, legacy tools.

“For years, artists have valued the Wacom Art Pen for its unique feel and the expressive possibilities it offers. With Wacom Art Pen 2, we listened to our passionate community and evolved what they love. We incorporated a familiar experience into our latest pen technology,” said Koji Yano, Senior Vice President, Creative Experience Unit at Wacom. “By integrating these features into our current devices, we want to give creatives even greater freedom to bring their visions to life.”

Intelligent design for artists

The Wacom Art Pen 2 features Wacom’s battery-free EMR technology and three pen buttons that streamline workflow and minimize interruptions. With up to 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, the pen enables precise and fluid control – whether in fine sketches or dynamic, powerful strokes. A holder integrated into the pen provides space for three replacement nibs, so artists can quickly swap them out if necessary.

New tips for sensitive design

There are three newly developed pen tip types to choose from: Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM tips, Art Pen 2 POM tips and Art Pen 2 felt tips. They are all designed to provide a distinctive drawing feel. The pen comes with an Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM tip. These tips are designed exclusively for the Wacom Art Pen 2 and are not compatible with the Wacom Pro Pen 3 tips.

compatibility

The Wacom Art Pen 2 is compatible with the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14, Wacom Intuos Pro (PTK470 / PTK670 / PTK870), Wacom Cintiq 16 (DTK168), Wacom Cintiq 24 (DTK246) and Wacom Cintiq 24 touch (DTH246). Wacom Cintiq Pro series models (DTH172 / DTH227 / DTH271) will be supported later in 2026.
