Microsoft has announced new capabilities for Microsoft Teams, Defender for Office 365 and other applications within its Microsoft 365 suite.
The Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant’s channel partners have seen major business opportunities from the Teams collaboration tool in particular.
Tim Howard, president of Hampstead, N.H.-based RMON Networks, told CRN that his customers have sought Teams as a replacement internet-based phone service and collaborative tool during COVID-19, from real time document editing to a shared visual experience in the recently launched “Together” mode.
“Some of my customers who still have Slack, I’m telling them, ‘Why use Slack when you already have Teams,’” said Howard, whose company ranked No. 78 on CRN’s 2020 Fast Growth 150.
Howard said he’d like to see Microsoft keep investing in more integrations, security and voice recognition capabilities around Teams to keep adding more reasons for customers to adopt the tool.
For Kelly Yeh, president of Chantilly, Va.-based Phalanx Technology, the Office 365 product suite, which includes Teams, has proven an effective technology stack combined with Azure to help encourage customers to leave on-premises footprints and adopt cloud computing. Office 365 has been a launching point to move customers into other services.
“We are definitely looking at Azure and Office 365 as the heart of where our business is,” Yeh told CRN.
