IDnow adds the issuance of QEAAs to its identity verification and trust services. In this way, companies can use verified attributes in a legally secure manner that national eID systems and the EUDI Wallet have not yet consistently provided.
/PRNewswire/ — IDnow Trust Services AB, IDnow’s qualified trust service provider (QTSP), has received certification to issue qualified electronic attributes (QEAAs). The European provider of digital identity and fraud prevention is expanding its portfolio to include an eIDAS 2.0 and AMLR-compliant option to verify specific customer information such as address, tax identification number or professional qualifications.
QEAAs are EU-wide recognized digital evidence of a specific personal or organizational characteristic. In contrast to classic paper documents, they can be checked immediately, read automatically and reused. IDnow can integrate the certificates directly into existing onboarding processes as well as issue them for use in the EUDI Wallet.
New verification requirements increase the need for verified attributes
The certification takes place against the background of new regulatory requirements. The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) requires companies to collect and verify a wide range of customer information and evidence by July 10, 2027. Some national eID systems and EUDI wallets do not necessarily provide all the necessary features as part of the standard PID (Person Identification Data). Companies therefore need additional options to reliably verify and digitally prove individual customer attributes.
IDnow’s QEAA service bundles identity verification, attribute verification and the issuance of QEAAs in a consistent, traceable process. IDnow compares the respective attribute with an authentic or officially recognized source and then issues a corresponding QEAA via IDnow Trust Services.
“The AMLR not only requires that companies know who their customers are. They also have to be able to reliably provide concrete information about these customers. However, today’s identity infrastructure in Europe is not designed for this across the board,” says Johannes Leser, Managing Director at IDnow Trust Services. “With our QEAA certification, we will offer companies a legally recognized and audit-proof solution with which they can meet regulatory requirements without having to rely on the EUDI Wallet being available in time for the already established regulatory deadlines.”
Certification completed with no nonconformities
For certification, IDnow went through a comprehensive conformity assessment process. Both the underlying processes of IDnow as a qualified trust service provider (QTSP) and for the QEAA service itself were examined. The audit included, among other things, attribute verification, technical issuance, lifecycle management and IT security in accordance with the ETSI EN 319 401 and ETSI TS 119 471 standards. The procedure was completed without any non-conformities.
The conformity assessment report was then submitted to the Swedish Post and Telecommunications Authority (PTS). As the responsible supervisory authority, the PTS decides on the granting of qualified status and the corresponding inclusion in the EU trusted list.
