Centron and Tsinghua University sign a research and development cooperation agreement

Transform challenges from the real production line into research questions

/PRNewswire/ — Centron signed an industry-academic-research cooperation agreement with the team of Professor Zhang Xiangyu from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University during the 2026 Xishan Technology Transfer Conference held in Wuxi on September 15.

The agreement was signed as part of the “Xishan-Tsinghua” industry-university cooperation program, which promotes collaboration through a practice-oriented model in which companies raise questions, universities contribute research-based approaches and the market tests the results in practice.

When it comes to adhesive dispensing, the biggest challenge rarely lies with a single system. Rather, it lies in the process consistency, in which the dosage quantity, dosage route, cycle time and substrate condition are closely linked to one another. Addressing such problems requires not only experimental data but also long-term validation under real production conditions.

Centron has accumulated application and validation experience in dispensing, potting and droplet impregnation in various manufacturing scenarios including body shop, final assembly, battery pack production and e-drive applications. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University is characterized by its expertise in fluid power, precision engineering and engineering research methods. This type of collaboration helps to link production-side conditions with structured research tools.

For customers, it is not just the performance of individual systems that matters, but also consistency, traceability and reliability along the entire production line. Collaboration between industry and academia can help shorten the path between technical verification and practical application, enabling more robust process solutions in demanding manufacturing environments.

More broadly, such collaboration creates a closer connection between laboratory and manufacturing, allowing research to address manufacturing limitations and practical challenges sooner and return to the research phase more quickly. Over time, this connection can become an important part of the mutual strengthening of industrial know-how and engineering research.
