139th Canton Fair’s Lighting and Electrical Category Highlights Creative Designs for Sustainable Living

/PRNewswire/ — During the 139th Canton Fair, the Lighting and Electrical category continued to reveal how new technologies and product design are transforming everyday situations, from learning spaces to public infrastructure and outdoor activities.

One of the most notable products was a screen-free AI tutor that combines lighting and education in a new form. Developed by a research team led by Tsinghua and awarded a gold medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the device replaces a traditional screen with a 23-inch desktop projection that allows students to write, read and interact directly on paper. Millisecond-level touch response makes the projected surface intuitive, while AA-grade illumination, RG0 blue light protection, and diffuse reflectance imaging help create a healthier study environment. Powered by a large, proprietary educational model, it supports multidisciplinary tutoring, homework grading, and the educational needs of all students. Its minimalist integrated design and strict component standards position it as a thoughtful blend of lighting, AI assistance and refined product engineering.

Public space lighting also appeared in improved forms. A 200W solar street light showed how municipal lighting is becoming more resilient and energy independent. Its reinforced structure and intelligent control system ensure stable lighting in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C, while high-efficiency solar panels and large-capacity batteries ensure operation all year round, even during prolonged cloudy or rainy periods. Rather than serving as a passive light source, the product functions as an active node within a distributed energy installation, reflecting a broader shift toward “generate, store and deliver” models in outdoor lighting.

By extending this idea to personal use, portable solar products have added another layer of creativity. A smart, solar-powered audio cap integrates high-efficiency solar cells into its brim, transforming sunlight into energy while walking, fishing or cycling. The design addresses concerns about battery life while still providing up to 20 hours of playback. Its open acoustic structure allows users to remain aware of their surroundings, making it ideal for outdoor sports and long-duration activities.

Whether improving the way students learn, strengthening the reliability of public infrastructure, or bringing clean energy to everyday outdoor life, the products on display in the “Lighting & Power” category hint at a future in which lighting and energy technologies play a more integrated role in creating healthier, safer and more sustainable living environments.
