Xinhua Silk Road: 34th East China Fair highlights resilience and vitality of foreign trade


/PRNewswire/ — When the four-day 34th East China Fair (ECF) concluded recently in Shanghai, its bumper haul of around USD 2.2 billion in intention orders once again testified to the vitality and resilience of China’s foreign trade.

As a major foreign trade exhibition held in China, the event attracted 46,450 buyers from 126 countries and regions, a year-on-year increase of 2.9% in the gross number of foreign buyers.

By region, European and North American buyers increased 5.5% year-over-year and Southeast Asian buyers jumped 24.1%.

Foreign and domestic buyers were enthusiastic about the exhibitions showcasing this year’s new technology applications, ecological development and new consumption trends.

A host of cutting-edge products integrating AI, Internet of Things and 3D printing, such as AI magic mirror, hydrogen-oxygen machines, plant protection drones and 3D printed slippers, were showcased.

With wide application of new materials such as X-TEX fabric, new solution-dyed fabric and RPET recycled material, the exhibitions of the 34th ECF have enhanced environmental friendliness and functions.

When new technologies such as temperature-controlled layered casting technology, activated carbon fiber and sub-nano fiber blending technology, and EVA integrated molding technology emerged, the 34th ECF boasted greater scientific and technical content.

With a greater proportion of exhibitions devoted to green technologies, the 34th ECF clearly illustrated the transition paths of China’s foreign trade, which is shifting from traditional manufacturing to green industry.

In addition, the event also paid attention to new consumption trends by organizing exhibitions on pet economy, emotional economy, sports economy and sleep economy, to promote trade in this field.

With four secondary exhibitions, the total exhibition area covered 115,000 square meters and had 5,291 stands. Two special exhibition areas have also been set up to promote cross-border e-commerce and sales of foreign exhibitors.

While providing special spaces for buyer-supplier matching as usual, this year’s ECF invited 14 procurement groups consisting of 1154 quality buyers and organized seven matchmaking activities to promote high-quality contracting.
