IMG Saxony-Anhalt: 2026 in sight – Saxony-Anhalt sets the tone for the industries of the future

In addition to cutting-edge medical technologies, the industrial sector is also experiencing dynamic development: Wintipak has already launched the third phase of construction in Star Park Hall and expands its capabilities for aseptic packaging solutions. The investment creates additional space for offices, technical functions and storage and supports the long-term stability of the European production network. With this step, the company explicitly commits to the region and focuses on sustainable and efficient production processes.

An important milestone in the field of logistics is being achieved in Bernburg (Saale)Avnet establishes a high-performance distribution center for electronic components, including electronic semiconductors, with an investment volume of more than 225 million euros. Operations are expected to begin in spring 2026, with up to 700 new jobs and the capacity to ship tens of thousands of packages around the world every day. Sustainable energy supply and modern automation make the center a benchmark project for the entire region.

When it comes to semiconductor-related industries, Mercury is also taking a big step forward: the Irish company is building an engineering and manufacturing center in Schönebeck. The opening is also planned for spring 2026. Approximately 200 qualified professionals will provide innovative engineering services to European clients in the high-tech sector. The decision was motivated by the high quality of the site and its central location in Germany.

Another project of supraregional importance was carried out in Halberstadt: Daimler Truck’s new global parts center– the largest spare parts center of its type in Europe – was completed in just two years and created more than 650 jobs. Daimler Truck is also setting new standards in sustainable logistics with its CO₂-neutral energy concept.

Successful mid-sized companies, such as the manufacturer of electric motors for boats Ramme Electric Machines d’Osterwieckalso demonstrate that innovation “Made in Saxony-Anhalt” has a global resonance. The Bitterfeld-Wolfen chemical park also continues to develop: Bitter Field develops its production of specialized reagents, thus strengthening the chemical and biotechnological expertise of the State. At the same time, Merz invests 50 million euros in additional capacity for highly specialized active ingredients on site Biopharmapark Dessau-Roßlau.

All these projects demonstrate that Saxony-Anhalt is building on its successes to take new steps in 2026. The state is a location attractive to companies seeking growth, innovation and preparation for the future.
