“Since 2025, AI has gone from concept to large-scale implementation, fundamentally transforming the ISP industry,” said York Yue, Huawei Vice President and CEO of ISP & Media BU, during his keynote speech. “Internally, it drives operational efficiency, intelligence and network automation; externally, it enables higher-value B2B services and new monetization models“. Yue also stressed that ISPs must act decisively, integrate AI into their core strategy, and position themselves to realize sustainable growth in the smart world.

Artificial intelligence + all-optical home broadband to build the next generation smart homes

Smart homes envision various applications such as cloud gaming, 8K UHD video streaming and teleconferencing. This places higher demands on the speed, stability and operation and maintenance (O&M) efficiency of home broadband. To solve this problem, Huawei has launched its next-generation FAN solution. Powered by AI and integrated into a coordinated “device-edge-cloud” architecture, this solution offers a complete service system including intelligent programming, connectivity, services and O&M. It aims to help ISPs explore new growth potential by improving user experience.

For home connectivity, the next-generation FAN solution uses Huawei’s OptiXstar EG series ONTs to provide the following three intelligent features:

  1. Intelligent Connectivity: This feature automatically switches between frequency bands, and delivers Wi-Fi 7 speeds of more than 2,000 Mbps, ensuring whole-home coverage and uninterrupted performance for demanding tasks like cloud gaming and 8K UHD video streaming.
  2. Intelligent Services: Wi-Fi is integrated with artificial intelligence algorithms to identify indoor conditions accurately and protect home security.
  3. Intelligent O&M: Self-diagnosis and self-optimization capabilities allow devices to automatically detect and correct problems for more agile and efficient network performance.

For home service sensitivity, the solution uses MA5800T series OLTs that feature AI-based traffic management and offer dedicated network paths for different intelligent services with customized SLA guarantees. This ensures reliable performance for various healthcare, entertainment and remote meeting applications.

The solution enhances the smart home experience in any scenario. It helps ISPs stand out in the market while increasing user loyalty and business value.

AI Adoption: Towards a New Intelligent Future for ISPs

The deep integration of artificial intelligence with communication networks has emerged as the central driver of industrial innovations and progress. The intelligent transformation of business and home broadband networks has reached a critical inflection point.

“AI is revolutionizing the ISP industry, driving the growth of services in both B2H and B2B sectors,” said Huang Dachuan, CTO of Huawei’s ICT Marketing and Solution Sales department. “AI terminals will become commonplace by 2030; thanks to their multimodal capabilities, they will help businesses reduce costs and improve efficiency, while intelligent and resilient networks will significantly improve O&M efficiency and user experience.” According to Huang, Huawei introduced an ISP network architecture for the intelligent world. “This architecture integrates cloud AI data center, optical access, and IP transport capabilities through technologies such as Data Center Optical Cross-Connect (DC-OXC), Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), and Optical Cross-Connect (OXC). It enables scenarios such as family healthcare, smart homes and intelligent O&M, helping customers achieve intelligent service transformation” Huang said.

As the world’s leading provider of ICT infrastructure and intelligent terminals, Huawei has provided innovative products, solutions and services to more than 8,000 ISPs in more than 120 countries and regions. Going forward, Huawei will continue to advance the integration of artificial intelligence and networks, working with global customers and partners to accelerate intelligent upgrades of enterprise and home broadband networks. The company aims to bring artificial intelligence to every home and industry to create a solid digital foundation for the future intelligent era.
