New product connects Microsoft 365 with Google Workspace, providing real-time operational resilience to regulated companies
/PRNewswire/ — The problem: Frequent failures now become a liability risk
CloudM today announced the general availability of CloudM Continuity, a SaaS-based business continuity solution that provides organizations with an automated “hot standby” environment in Google Workspace during Microsoft 365 service outages. Offered exclusively through Google Cloud partners and MSPs, the product fills a critical and growing gap in enterprise resilience strategy.
Last year alone, organizations experienced 16 major Microsoft 365 outages, totaling 94 hours of cumulative downtime and impacting nearly 850 million users worldwide. For organizations in financial services, healthcare and legal, the costs are severe. Industry metrics put the average impact at more than $100,000 per hour. In high-risk industries such as energy and financial trading, this rises to $5 million or more. Overall, IT failures are estimated to cost Global 2000 companies $400 billion in annual losses. For regulated companies, there is now an additional legal risk due to the EU regulation on digital operational resilience in the financial sector (DORA), which requires critical functions to be restored within two hours.
The solution: A hot standby instead of a backup
Traditional backup solutions with recovery targets of 24 to 48 hours no longer meet this standard. CloudM Continuity does.
The product works with a continuous resilience process in three stages:
1. First, it mirrors Microsoft 365 data including emails, calendars, and contacts into an active Google Workspace environment at intervals ranging from weekly to hourly.
2. When an outage occurs, users switch to their Google warm seat without complex recovery scripts or manual restores.
3. Once Microsoft services become available again, an automated resynchronization mechanism will transfer all data created during the outage back to M365, ensuring no data loss occurs.
“We built CloudM Continuity for the moment every IT leader dreads: the 9 a.m. call that Microsoft is down and business is at a standstill,” said Donna Torres, managing director of CloudM. “Our answer is simple: Your company doesn’t stand still. It simply changes track.”
CloudM Continuity is only available through authorized Google Cloud Partners and MSPs.
