/PRNewswire/ — BE OPEN Art, an online gallery created by Elena Baturina’s humanitarian think tank BE OPEN continues to organize BE OPEN Regional Art for the fourth year in 2026. The regional competition for emerging artists aims to support those whose art best represents their regional, cultural and ethnic identities, for the third consecutive year.
Founder of BE OPEN Elena Baturina
To do this, the BE OPEN community of experts selects the artists who best represent the artistic tradition of a region to be part of the BE OPEN Art gallery and give them greater visibility. In this way, works by 20 emerging artists appear in the online gallery every month, and a public vote chooses the Regional Artist of the Month. At the end of the stage, one of the monthly winners receives the title of Artist of the Region and a scholarship based on the number of votes from the public and members of the BE OPEN artistic community.
From January to April 2026, the competition will explore the art of northeast Africa, with artists from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Egypt and Madagascar.
In 2026, each regional phase will last 4 months, and at the end of the fourth month a winner will be named who will receive 500 euros. Additionally, the Founder’s favorite will receive 300 euros. ElenaBaturina explained that “Regional competitions help us support even more young people. We hope these additional resources will help them move forward with their artistic careers.”
The regional competition runs parallel to the usual work of BEOPEN Art, whose experts select 20 new artists for the gallery monthly, through online voting to name the Artist of the Month and the Artist of the Year.
Aiming to support emerging talent, BEOPEN Art selects artists in the early stages of their career who prioritize social awareness and aesthetic solutions to contemporary world problems. The project’s mission is to seek out new influential figures in the art scene and invites everyone to contribute.
BE OPEN is a global initiative to foster creativity and innovation, promoting the people and ideas of today to build solutions for the future. It is a cultural and social initiative supported by the Austrian-based philanthropist and international businesswoman, Elena Baturina.
