Oracle and Snowflake Announce First-Party Native OCI Service

Oracle and Snowflake have announced that Snowflake AI Data Cloud will be available as a native, first-party service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), which will expand the AI and data capabilities Oracle provides to allow organizations to accelerate enterprise AI initiatives. This integration will give customers more flexibility to put their enterprise data to work and drive AI-powered innovation.

Customers will be able to buy, provision, and use Snowflake on OCI directly through Oracle. Oracle will manage pricing, discounts, and billing, offering a single commercial relationship for the service. Customers will also be able to use Oracle Universal Credits for Snowflake on OCI, simplifying procurement and allowing them to take advantage of their existing cloud commitments.

Snowflake on OCI is built to help organizations get more value from their enterprise data in four ways:

  • Extending the power of Snowflake analytics and AI to Oracle Cloud: This lets Oracle customers apply Snowflake’s analytics and AI capabilities closer to their enterprise data, with supported sources such as Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle Autonomous AI Database, MySQL HeatWave, and Oracle NoSQL database.
  • Accelerating analytics and enterprise AI: This enables native data transfer through supported integrations, which reduces the need for custom pipelines and accelerates the use of enterprise data for reporting, data engineering, machine learning, and AI insights.
  • Maintaining data security and customer control: This feature can help customers use Snowflake on OCI with their enterprise data while keeping control over data access, use, and governance.
  • Reducing egress costs: This allows seamless data movement within OCI, helping customers access their enterprise data quicker while reducing cross-cloud data movement and associated egress costs.
