Angelalign has already replaced “Torque Ridges” with improved “Pressure Points” in Europe
/PRNewswire/ — Angelalign Technology Inc. (6699.HK) (“Angel”) http://www.angelaligner.com, a company that innovates in orthodontic clear aligner technology, today announced that a decision by the Paris Chamber of the Unified Patent Court regarding its “Torque Ridges” feature will not affect the availability in Europe of its offering, which is already the next generation of the Torque control technology included.
Angelalign Has Already Replaced Torque Ridges with Upgraded “Pressure Points” in Europe
Angel has already removed “Torque Ridges” from its product range in Europe and replaced it with an improved feature called “Pressure Points”. “Pressure Points,” launched in the European market in September, is designed to improve torque control and reflects Angel’s continued commitment to innovation designed to address the clinical challenges faced by orthodontists. Angel customers in Spain, the UK and outside Europe, including North and South America and Asia, are not affected by this decision. Angel continually develops new solutions to continue to provide its customers with good service.
The court ruled today that the “Torque Ridges” feature infringed a patent owned by Align Technology Inc. (ALGN) relating to the repositioning of a patient’s teeth according to an orthodontic treatment plan. Angel disagrees with this decision and is currently reviewing it in detail as the company weighs its options. Angel will abide by the court’s decision, including the return of all products. With Torque Ridges no longer available in Europe, orthodontists using Angel products and services will be able to continue treating their patients with Pressure Points and Angel’s ongoing clinical and technical support.
“Our top priority is to ensure that orthodontists can continue to provide excellent care to their patients,” said Xavier Cherbavaz, general manager and vice president for Europe, Africa and the Middle East at Angelalign Technology Inc. “Torque Ridges has already been phased out in Europe and replaced with Pressure Points – an approach designed to support controlled force and tooth contact. We remain focused on providing orthodontists with innovative clinical solutions and a reliable customer experience.”
“Angel takes intellectual property rights seriously and is careful not to infringe any valid patents,” added Richard Hirschland, Chief Commercial Officer and SVP at Angel. “We are carefully reviewing the court’s reasoning and will consider all available options. Despite the lawsuit from a competitor, Angel will continue to innovate and improve its products to provide benefits to its providers and their patients.”.Continuous innovation means anticipating challenges and developing solutions to protect the customer experience. Our transition to Pressure Points reflects this commitment. We are committed to continuing to develop innovative solutions so that orthodontists can rely on Angel for the long term.”
