IEC 62443 is a series of globally recognized cybersecurity standards for industrial automation and control systems. IEC 62443-3-3 addresses system-level security requirements, including how relevant components, networks, and system security mechanisms work together within an overall control system. This certificate therefore provides independent validation of the cybersecurity capabilities integrated into Envision Energy’s wind farm control system.

Envision Energy integrates cybersecurity into the design, development, production and delivery stages of its wind technologies. Its functionalities compliant with the IEC 62443 standard now cover several levels, including:

  • Secure development cycle certified according to IEC 62443-4-1;
  • SCADA, PPC and PLC certified according to IEC 62443-4-2 SL2;
  • Control system of a wind farm certified in accordance with standard IEC 62443-3-3 SL2;
  • System security integration and maintenance services certified to IEC62443-2-4

Together, these certifications demonstrate a structured approach to cybersecurity, covering secure development, essential components, system-level protection and service delivery.

“As wind energy plays an increasingly important role in future energy systems, cybersecurity is essential for the safe, reliable and resilient operation of wind installations. This new certification demonstrates Envision Energy’s continued commitment to meeting the ever-changing cybersecurity and compliance requirements in international markets, including Europe,” said Yimin Lou, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Envision Energy. “We do not consider this certification as an end in itself, but as the starting point for continuous improvement. We will continue to integrate cybersecurity throughout the lifecycle of our technologies, systems and services, to build resilience and build lasting trust with our customers.

“The energy transition is accelerating the digitalization of critical energy infrastructures, with cybersecurity establishing itself as an increasingly important factor of trust in the technologies that ensure their operation. The IEC 62443-3-3 SL2 certification achieved by Envision Energy marks another advancement in the implementation of system-level cybersecurity, complementing the security capabilities already in place within its key control components. Independent verification against internationally recognized standards can help build confidence in the safety and reliability of wind infrastructure,” said Frank L. Blaimberger, Vice President and Global Head of Innovation for Digitized Compliance Solutions and Connected Systems at TÜV SÜD.
