IDnow enriches its identity verification and trust services offering with the issuance of QEAAs, enabling organizations to use verified identifiers in compliance with legislation, something that national electronic identification systems and EUDI Waller have not yet been able to consistently ensure.
/PRNewswire/ –IDnow, the European leader in digital identity and fraud prevention, announces that its Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP), IDnow Trust Services AB, has obtained certification to issue Qualified Electronic Attribute Attestations (QEAA).
IDnow recently underwent an in-depth QEAA compliance assessment, including on-site audits as well as a detailed review of evidence relating to the company’s QTSP reference processes and the QEAA service itself. The evaluation focused in particular on the verification of the attributes, their technical emission, the management of their life cycle and IT security, with regard to the ETSI EN 319 401 and ETSI TS 119 471 standards. It was concluded without any non-compliance. The resulting compliance report was submitted to Post- och telestyrelsen (PTS) in Sweden, the supervisory authority responsible for granting qualified status and carrying out the corresponding registration on the European Union Trust List.
QEAAs provide organizations with a legally recognized, eIDAS 2.0-compliant way to verify specific information about their customers, such as a residential address, tax identification number or professional title.
A QEAA is a secure and verified digital attestation, recognized throughout the European Union, which certifies a specific attribute relating to a person or organization. Unlike paper certificates, it is immediately verifiable, automatically usable and reusable. IDnow QEAAs can be used in two ways: directly integrated into an organization’s existing onboarding journeys or issued in the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet).
The missing link of AMLR
This certification comes as regulated financial institutions across Europe prepare for the entry into force of the European Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR), which will require obliged entities to collect and verify a wide range of attributes and information relating to their customers by July 10, 2027. Some national electronic identity systems and some EUDI Wallets do not necessarily provide the set of attributes required in standard personal identification data (PID, Person Identification Data), many organizations risk finding themselves faced with a mismatch between the information they need to verify and what current identity ecosystems can reliably provide.
IDnow’s QEAA service is designed to fill this gap. Through a unique integration, IDnow brings together identity verification, attribute verification and QEAA issuance within a single chain of trust. IDnow verifies the attribute from an authoritative source and then directly issues the QEAA via its own QTSP.
« AMLR not only requires organizations to know who their customer is: they must also be able to prove specific information about them. However, current identity infrastructures have not been designed to do this in a homogeneous manner across Europe. », comments Johannes Leser, Managing Director d’IDnow Trust Services.
« With our QEAA certification, we will be able to offer organizations a legally recognized and audit-ready way to fill this gap, without waiting for the deployment schedule of the European Digital Identity Portfolio to catch up with regulatory deadlines that are already set. »
