Midea Energy is attracting interest from European partners as the storage market shifts from volume focus to regulatory compliance

/PRNewswire/ — After more than a decade of focus on solar installation volumes, the European renewable energy market is now entering a new phase where intelligent storage control and regulatory compliance have replaced pure capacity as key competitive drivers, according to participants at Intersolar Europe 2026.

Against this background, Midea Energy, with its core brands in the energy storage sector, Hiconics and CLOU, has aroused constant interest from regional sales partners and project developers. The partners cite integrated system controls, proven product quality and compliance with local regulations as key differentiators in a competitive, price-driven market.

Storage systems are springing up like mushrooms throughout Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Poland – driven by the increasing price differences between day and night electricity, the expiration of solar subsidies and the increasing electricity demand of AI data centers. However, industry experts warn that the market is flooded with cheap products that do not meet local safety, network code and insurance requirements once they are put into operation.

“Many products look identical at first glance, but the real value lies in the battery management system, fire safety and regulatory compliance,” said Oliver, a German distributor who has been working with CLOU for three years. He pointed out that some customers who had opted for cheaper alternatives later returned because the products did not meet German legal or insurance requirements. To meet strict local regulations, CLOU works with German research institutions such as the Fraunhofer Institute to adapt software and cybersecurity functions to regulations such as the German KRITIS law for critical infrastructure. “If you buy cheap, you buy twice. Trust is the basis for successful storage projects,” he added.

In the residential sector, a European partner of Hiconics highlighted the brand’s high quality workmanship as an outstanding advantage. He noted that the IP66-rated storage units offer consistent operational reliability and have lower failure rates than most entry-level alternatives. The iEasyEnergy platform, which combines solar energy, storage systems, heat pumps and electric vehicle charging stations in a single AI-powered app, also solves the widespread problem of isolated device operation.

For commercial and utility projects, CLOU’s Aqua Series storage systems offer millisecond grid response times and advanced cell balancing technology; all products have full CE, IEC and UN certifications. The partners also cited the stability of CLOU’s local engineering team as an important trust factor in large projects.

Beyond hardware exports, Midea Energy offers comprehensive on-site services including planning, financing, installation and long-term maintenance. For European partners who have to navigate an increasingly strict regulatory environment, this integrated model is becoming increasingly important over pure price competition.
