CloudM launches continuity: instant recovery in the event of an M365 outage

The new product bridges Microsoft365 and Google Workspace to provide real-time operational resilience for regulated businesses.

/PRNewswire/ — The problem: fatigue in the face of repeated breakdowns (“outage fatigue”) is now a legal responsibility

CloudM today announced the general availability of CloudM Continuity, a SaaS-based business continuity solution that provides businesses with an automated “hot standby” environment in Google Workspace in the event of a failure of Microsoft365 services. Launched exclusively by Google Cloud Partners and MSPs, this product fills a critical and growing gap in enterprise resilience strategy.

Last year alone, businesses experienced 16 major Microsoft 365 outages totaling 94 hours of cumulative downtime, affecting nearly 850 million users worldwide. For organizations in the financial services, healthcare and justice sectors, the cost is high: according to industry benchmark data, the average impact is more than $100,000 per hour, and can reach $5 million or more in high-risk sectors such as energy and financial transactions. In total, IT failures represent an estimated loss of $400 billion per year for Global2000 companies. Regulated entities now face additional legal risk under the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Regulation (DORA), which mandates the restoration of critical functions within two hours.

The solution: hot standby, not backup

Traditional backup solutions with recovery time objectives of 24 to 48 hours no longer meet this standard, unlike CloudM Continuity.

The product works through a three-step continuous resilience loop:

1. First, it mirrors data from Microsoft365, including mail, calendar, and contacts, to a live Google Workspace environment at frequencies ranging from once a week to once an hour.
2. In the event of an outage, users go to their Google “hot seat” without having to resort to complex recovery scripts or manual restores.
3. Once Microsoft services are restored, an automated reverse recovery mechanism pushes all data created during the outage back to M365, ensuring zero data loss.

“We built CloudM Continuity for the moment every IT leader dreads: the 9 a.m. call that Microsoft is down and business is at a standstill,” said Donna Torres, CEO of CloudM. “Our answer is simple: your business does not stop. She just changes lanes.”

CloudM Continuity is available exclusively from authorized Google Cloud Partners and MSPs.
