Hisense brings a quiet green revolution to home entertainment

/PRNewswire/ — Hisense, a leading global brand in consumer electronics and home appliances, is championing energy-saving innovation across the industry as sustainability becomes an increasingly important part of everyday technology.

Every year during Earth Hour, millions of homes around the world turn off their lights for sixty minutes. But an equally important sustainability story can be played on screens that stay on. As home electronics play an ever-increasing role in everyday life, improving energy efficiency has become a key focus for innovation.

For Hisense, greener technologies start long before the TV reaches the living room. In 2025, the World Economic Forum (WEF) recognized Hisense Hitachi’s Huangdao factory as the world’s first sustainability beacon in the VRF sector. It demonstrates how AI-driven manufacturing enables more efficient and environmentally responsible production. Based on this success, Hisense Visual Technology Qingdao factory won the WEF’s customer-focused beacon award and became the first and only “Lighthouse factory” in the global TV industry.

This double recognition reflects a broader shift across Hisense’s manufacturing network towards sustainability and operational excellence – a foundation that naturally extends to its 2026 TV lineup. Hisense’s latest models feature energy-saving innovations in hardware and smart features. The upcoming UR9 series, which is slated for a global market launch in April, brings solar-powered remote controls to regions including Europe and Australia, while an adaptive light sensor and power-saving modes adjust brightness and power consumption to help users use electricity more efficiently.

Hisense extends its approach to sustainability beyond the product itself. Its eco-friendly packaging uses 100% FSC certified wood and fiber materials®which come from responsible forestry, thereby reducing the impact on the environment throughout the entire production and supply process in Europe.

Hisense is also improving environmental assessment at the product level. The C3 laser projector undergoes Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) verification by SGS, which supports transparent assessment of environmental impact throughout the product life cycle.

Many environmental improvements happen subtly—through engineering advances that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and extend product life cycles without changing the way people perceive technology. For Hisense, this reflects the vision of “innovation for a brighter life”, that is, the development of technologies that improve entertainment while constantly reducing the impact on the environment.
