/PRNewswire/ — According to a report by Xinhuanet:
On November 13th, the “Global South Media and Think Tank Forum China-Africa Partnership Conference” began in Johannesburg, South Africa. A representative of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG) was invited to speak during the opening ceremony at the Global South Talks event and share the company’s practical experiences working with countries in the Global South on power grids.
Sun Shengjun, project manager of the Africa and Europe Regional Development Department at China Southern Power Grid International, described CSG’s experiences and efforts to deepen China-Africa energy relations in Cairo, Egypt. In 2023, Sun and his team arrived in Cairo to address chronic problems on the local power grid, including high line losses and poor operational performance. They gradually introduced CSG’s operational measures to reduce losses in the distribution network and developed practical, scalable and repeatable “CSG solutions” for the local utility. In addition to technical efforts, CSG has focused on developing a skilled local workforce through targeted training programs and technical knowledge exchange events. By adapting its technology to local conditions and investing in workforce training, the company has sought to tailor its sophisticated technical systems to local needs while promoting indigenous technical skills to lay the foundation for long-term commitment.
Sun said CSG views energy cooperation not as a one-way street, but as a partnership based on mutual benefit and shared growth. Looking forward, the company reiterates that it will continue to provide its technologies and management expertise to countries in the Global South to deepen China-Africa energy cooperation and support plans for broader cooperation in the Global South.
