Catalyx Space prepares for the next era of orbital logistics

– Catalyx Space secures $5.4 million seed funding round to prepare for the next era of orbital logistics

Catalyx is building the complete infrastructure for space: hardware, software and operations that allow cargo launches and returns to function as scheduled logistics, not one-time missions.

The launch is predictable; the return of the cargo. Catalyx is turning the comeback into a bookable service to products manufactured in microgravity, urgent investigations, component returns and sample logisticsclosing the cycle that makes the orbit behave as infrastructure.

/PRNewswire/ — Catalyx Space, Inc., a space infrastructure company that provides comprehensive solutions for orbital missions in various sectors, recently announced the closing of its $5.4 million seed financing round, led by venture capital firm Outlander VC, which exceeded expectations. This announcement follows the success of its $1.7 million pre-seed round in January, which culminated in the first successful test launch of its capsule in an accelerated six-month timeline. The new funds will be used to commercialize its next-generation reentry architecture, strengthen its international operations and expand its global customer acquisition capacity. Also participating in the round were: Arka Venture Labs, Lex Reddy, KDX Management LLC, Together Fund, Higher Life Ventures, Nivesha Ventures, Prana Tech Ventures, Bria, HF0 Residency and Techstars.

“Space is not the next frontier, but the next layer of infrastructure. Catalyx is making orbit as accessible and programmable as the cloud, and that change will power entirely new industries. We are proud to support a team that is building the backbone of this transformation,” he said Paige Craigfounder and managing partner of Outlander VC.

“Rifath’s story is an example of perseverance. From building his first satellite as a teenager to his current leadership at Catalyx, he has never stopped pursuing what others consider impossible. I meet thousands of founders a year, and very few move with the speed and precision of Rifath and his team. Catalyx’s ability to take the idea to orbit at its own pace is redefining the way the space industry is built,” added AJ Smith, investment partner at Outlander VC.

The story of Catalyx begins with its founder, Rifath Shaarookwho, frustrated by the space industry’s long development timelines and complex, fragmented infrastructure, founded Catalyx in 2024. A space industry veteran with dozens of successful missions, Shaarook made headlines at age 18 when he designed KalamSatthen the lightest satellite in the world and a 3D printed engineering marvel.

“Catalyx’s mission is to accelerate the commercialization of space by enabling fast, reliable and affordable orbital access across all industries, including defense, advanced manufacturing and biopharmaceuticals. This funding milestone brings us closer to making that future a reality,” Shaarook stated.

According to Fortune Business Insights, the global space infrastructure market was valued at $146 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $308 billion by 2032. Catalyx aims to meet this growing demand with a complete end-to-end solution for next-generation space applications.
