DeepRoute.ai plans to start operating robotaxis with mass-produced consumer vehicles by the end of 2025

/PRNewswire/ — DeepRoute.ai, a pioneer in autonomous driving technology, announced plans to begin operating robotaxis with mass-produced consumer vehicles by the end of 2025. The initiative is an important step towards the commercialization of autonomous driving technology and leverages the DeepRoute.ai platform for production vehicles to accelerate large-scale deployment and improve accessibility for everyday users.

With over $500 million in funding from investors such as Alibaba and Great Wall Motor, DeepRoute.ai plans to deploy robotaxis on the same proven platform that is already used in around 150,000 series assisted driving vehicles in China – more than 200,000 by the end of the year. This concept of mass-produced vehicles is in stark contrast to traditional robotaxi operators, who rely on expensive custom-made vehicles.

Integrating autonomous driving systems directly into vehicles during production eliminates costly retrofits, while mapless navigation technology eliminates license fees for high-resolution maps and ongoing maintenance costs. This approach to production vehicles allows for rapid expansion into new cities without lengthy mapping work.

“A key strength of DeepRoute.ai’s approach is that the Robotaxi platform and production vehicles are based on the same core technological concept, enabling a high level of consistency and seamless platform compatibility,” said Maxwell Zhou, Managing Director of DeepRoute.ai. The company leverages insights from a growing global fleet to continually refine and validate its technology in diverse urban environments, accelerating the deployment of production-ready autonomous vehicles for the consumer market.

The robotaxi market is a global market with particularly great potential in Europe, Japan and South Korea. DeepRoute.ai’s approach to production vehicles offers lower hardware costs. This is beneficial for these markets, where high labor costs and advanced regulatory frameworks in Europe, as well as acute demographic challenges in Japan and South Korea – aging populations and driver shortages – create favorable conditions for autonomous ride-hailing services. The company is actively building a European presence to support localization and partner engagement.
